Mechanical and Microstructural Studies of High Performance Concrete with Condensed Silica Fume

This article is an extended version of the conference paper “Influence silica fume on mechanical and fracture properties high performance concrete” published in Procedia Structural Integrity as a part Special Issue for 3rd International Conference (ICSI 2019). Tests were carried out to evaluate compressive strength, tensile splitting modulus elasticity, flexural concretes (HPC) having different levels condensed (CSF) replacements cement. It was found that CSF replacement cement by up 25% may have favorable effect properties. HPC containing characterized quite large increases strength (up 14%) (16%). However, most significant improvements obtained (26%) energy (30.5%). There slight reductions 2% elastic modulus, at level substitution Microstructural studies showed narrowest microcracks smallest pores interfacial transition zone (ITZ) between paste grains aggregate occurred 10% CSF. In addition, reduction ITZ around formation more high-strength hydration products observed all CSF-added HPCs. The outcomes reported can successfully replace suggested should not exceed 20%.
